Why these prompts work when free lists don’t
Every prompt in this library is built from the same four parts. That is the whole difference between a prompt that returns an essay and a prompt that returns something you can send, print, or ship.
1. RoleTell the model who it is. “Act as a business strategist” changes the vocabulary and the confidence of the answer.
2. ContextYour real situation, in the [brackets]. Revenue, city, competitor, the awkward detail. This is the part most people skip and the part that does the most work.
3. FormatExactly what comes back: five emails with subject lines, a table of weekly milestones, three description styles. If you don’t name the shape, you get prose.
4. Success criteriaWhat good looks like. “Irresistible without being cheesy.” “Direct but kind.” “Be brutally honest.” This is what stops the filler.

How to use these prompts
Paste the actual numbers, including the ugly ones. A finance prompt with placeholders returns a finance lecture. Give it $4,200 in fixed costs and a 61 percent gross margin and it starts arguing with your assumptions instead of describing them.
Three mistakes that waste a good prompt
- Rounding everything. The model can only reason at the precision you give it. Twenty-ish thousand produces advice for a business that is not yours.
- Asking for a projection with no baseline. Give it last quarter's real revenue before asking what next quarter could be.
- Treating the answer as final. Use the output to generate better questions for your accountant, not to replace the accountant.

Is it safe to paste my financials into ChatGPT?
Use your judgement and your provider's data settings. These prompts are written so you can paste summary figures such as revenue, CAC, margin, and churn rather than account numbers or bank statements. Summary figures are normally enough for the analysis to work.
Can it build a financial model for a raise?
